The Morne Brabant

Le Morne Brabant, situated in the south-west of Mauritius, is more than a mere mountain. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2008, and a potent symbol of the island’s past, having served as a refuge for escaped slaves.

For nearly two decades, our Yanature team has been leading explorers from all corners of the globe up this captivating and remarkably preserved landmark. Le Morne Brabant is a thriving ecosystem, boasting numerous endemic species, among which is the rare Trochetia Boutoniana, the floral emblem of Mauritius.

The hike to the summit of Le Morne Brabant is a gratifying 3.5 – 4 hour journey, depending on the group’s speed. Some steep sections of the climb may require the use of hands for safe ascension, but the reward at the top is worth every effort.

Morning Start: The hike begins at 5:50AM from Monday to Saturday

Afternoon Start: The hike begins at 1:50PM on from Monday to Friday.

Tour Details:

• Led by professional, EFR/WFA Certified Mountain Guides

• Exclusive access to the upper part of the mountain with authorized, licensed guides

• Tour itinerary subject to change based on weather conditions

• Suitable for anyone in good health and physical condition

• Proper meal before the hike is strongly recommended

• Consumption of alcoholic drinks is strictly prohibited
